Shirley’s Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 6 tablespoons sugar
  • 6 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/8 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions to make the Shirley’s Chocolate Chip Cookies

  1. Blend together shortening and sugars; stir in egg and vanilla.
  2. Add flour, baking soda and salt; mix well.
  3. Stir in chocolate chips.
  4. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.
  5. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes, until lightly golden.
